With more than 30 years of experience in medical device marketing, Thierry Thaure has played a key role in a number of surgical innovations. Most recently, as Chief Executive Officer of Mauna Kea Technologies, he has developed a successful US strategy for branding and marketing the company’s Cellvizio imaging system. Thierry Thaure comes to these efforts following a highly regarded seven-year tenure with EndoGastric Solutions (EGS).
During his time with EGS, Thierry Thaure worked to create an incisionless procedure that rebuilds the valve that prevents acid reflux. This new procedure and catheter based technology make this possible. These procedures primarily focused on performing major stomach and intestinal surgery while entering the body through natural orifices. Mr. Thaure marketed these procedures to surgeons and gastroenterologists and, through them, to their patients. When interfacing with surgeons, he emphasized the resemblance to existing procedures and the improvements created by EGS’s technologies. He also emphasized the pain-free, non-invasive nature of the procedure in the hope that patients would appreciate these effects and increase demand.
Thierry Thaure was also the first Marketing and Sales executive to successfully market robotic procedures at both Intuitive Surgical and Accuray. During a five-year tenure with Accuray Inc., he marketed laser triangulation technology, known as CyberKnife, to neuro- and thoracic surgeons, as well as general surgeons, for the purpose of targeting tumors. Prior to this, he served as the first Vice President for Sales and Marketing with Intuitive Surgical, Inc., where he successfully promoted a variety of robotic procedures. Mr. Thaure joined these companies in the start-up phase and skillfully led each to profitability. He did the same with Origin MedSystems, a division of Guidant Corporation.
Thierry Thaure built his biology background as an undergraduate at Duke University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering. He now combines this knowledge with the business expertise he gained at Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he earned his graduate degree in finance and marketing. A dual citizen of France and the United States, he currently makes his home in California.
